The Kentucky Derby became the main focus as the entire Ripepi clan gathered at my sister Gina's house in Louisville, KY to celebrate mom and dad's 60th wedding anniversary which was on Thursday, May 5, 2011. On that day, with hats on... Gina, mom, dad and I went to Churchill Downs to have a tour, a mint julep and bet on some races viewing them from some great box seats. It was a great weather day and a good time was had by all. The rest of the family came in for the weekend, and the younger set along with George and Fred went to the actual derby. The rest of us watched at home as the races were on NBC all day long in Louisville. George had also prepared a special batch of mint juleps for all to enjoy. It was a nice occasion for all of us to gather and have a good time. Mom and Dad came back to Cleveland the following week and visited with friends Joyce and Hank Obral as well as went to dinner with Aunt Ida and Jim and with Chuck and his family for a couple of nights. Great family time was had by all for Mom and Dad's 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration.
